Trade statistics are compiled using a special system that classifies goods that are processed through Customs Declaration System. The special system enables the Department to produce such tables as Imports, Domestic Exports and Re-exports by Commodity/Commodity group and Country. Merchandise trade statistics is used to analyse economic trends, engage in trade negotiations, implement trade policies and identify market opportunities.
